With a little help from my friends...

I feel like such a

posting this. Actually, like a herd of them. I am not great at asking for help. But...it's time.

OK folks. Encourage me. I am officially, creatively stuck. I have SO much I want to share with you about leaving Dubai and the trip Mike and I took, and coming home to the USA, and usually I have what Stephen King once poetically (but accurately) described as "diarrhea of the keyboard" (hey, he's a horror writer, what can you do?) but lately, I am not feeling the love.

What's up with that?

I should mention that a huge part of my problem is that I'm off running until further notice...yes, injured again. Me and John Bingham, the Penguin, have the same thing, plantar fasciitis, and we're both sidelined from the sport we love. What freaks me out is that I've taken what to me is a staggering 6 weeks off, yet that's barely anything...some cases take years to get to the point where they can run again. I'm doing everything right to heal, but I should also suck it up and go to the gym to swim or do weights...and I will...I guess...

Whining about running aside, any helpful tips for getting over a writing hangover? Throw stuff out at me, whatever you've got, I'll take it!

Thanks for letting me whimper, everyone, hope you'll be patient with me.

Ok, Natalie, spit it all out. I feel behind in where you guys are and what you've been up to. Do I need to buy you a beer??

I won't tell you about my trip to Tuscany, about huffing and puffing up the Tuscan hills for a celebratory gelato (celebrating I made it to the top) and a beautiful vista, unless you spit it out about all you have been doing since our last communication.

Well, there it is, folks. I could definitely use some advice now because let me tell you, what Sherri wants, she gets, and that's all there is to it.

Not to mention that now there's beer on the table as a motivator.

Oh Natalie! I'm so sorry! Can you try something else until you recover? I've started yoga and am loving it.

Beer. I'll send you beer too!

Hello Natalie, I have been enjoying your blog for ages now, though haven't often left a comment.
Maybe your writer's block is because there is so much to tell since you left Dubai?
Your posts about your trip to Turkey and Greece were great, but I could feel the "time warp" that you were posting quite a long time after the events.
It might be an idea to do a kind of bullet-point update post of the main events between Dubai and resettling, to bring us all up to speed, and then you can go back and fill in the details at your leisure?
Here's a (virtual) bière from Paris to get you back on track!

Seriously, Natalie. What I always try to do when I can't write (and I can't write as well as you, any day) is to just write as if I am talking to a friend. As if I just asked you about leaving Dubai, and your and Mike's trip. Would you refuse to answer me because you didn't have the right words?? I think not. No, you would open up and the stories would flow. We're not your publishers, we're just friends :)

WOW! You are all awesome! I am flabbergasted by the support and how you all "get it". A big thank you to each and every one of you: Sherri, Paula, Larousse, and Mike; you're the best. A girl couldn't be happier than I am to have such friends.

Beers are on me, guys. See you at yoga class.
